Patient Account Rep (Full-time)
About the Role: The Patient Account Representative plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health of our healthcare facility by managing patient accounts effectively. This position is responsible for verifying patient information and resolving billing inquiries to ensure timely payments. The representative will communicate with patients to learn reason for visit and explain their insurance benefits. By maintaining accurate records and following up on outstanding accounts, the Patient Account Representative contributes to the overall efficiency of the revenue cycle. Ultimately, this role is vital in providing a seamless experience for patients while supporting the financial operations of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of insurance verification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility prior to services rendered.
- Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance benefits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-5 (hours may slightly vary).

PRN Overnight PACU RN Extended Care Unit
About the Role: The RN PACU-Extended Care Overnight PRN position is crucial in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves monitoring their recovery in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and providing extended care during overnight shifts. The primary goal is to facilitate a smooth transition for patients from the operating room to recovery, ensuring they receive the necessary support and medical attention. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, administer medications, and educate patients and their families about post-operative care. Ultimately, this position plays a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction during a critical phase of their healthcare journey.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in preoperative or PACU nursing.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preoperative assessments to evaluate patients' health status and readiness for surgery.
- Monitor patients in the PACU, observing vital signs and managing any complications that may arise post-anesthesia.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.

SURGICAL TECH - PRN
About the Role: Southern Surgery Center is seeking a PRN surgical tech. The surgical tech assists the physicians during surgery.
Job Requirements:
- Serves as scrub person for surgical procedures.
- Follows department procedures for scrub persons by assembling surgical packs, supplies and instruments for surgical cases and preparing operating room for surgery.
- Assures adequate amount of appropriate supplies and instrumentation are available in accordance with surgeon’s preference and counts all instruments, needles, and sponges with registered nurse according to procedure.
- Inventories and monitors instruments, sponges and needles on operative field using department count procedures.
- Adjusts instrumentation and supplies to changes in procedures and patient condition.
- Anticipates surgeon’s needs and assists surgeon by draping patients, holding/passing instruments, retractors, sutures, and medications, applying surgical dressings, suctioning and sponging surgical wounds, holding extremities, and moving patients.
- Adjusts priorities and participates in resolving problems as appropriate.
- Performs or assists in sterile preps as needed/requested by monitoring aseptic techniques of surgical team members at field, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling location of contaminated instruments and supplies.
- Maintains appropriate quantities of surgical supplies and equipment by restocking room with necessary equipment and supplies and apprises supervisor of special requests for surgical supplies and equipment.
- Assists with decontamination of all equipment, instruments, and supplies as necessary and assists with cleaning rooms, furniture, and equipment according to established procedures
Requirements:
- Graduate from accredited School for Surgical Technology
- Orthopedic experience preferred, but not required
Work Schedule: PRN shifts available, hours may vary. No on-call. No weekends.
