PreOP/PACU RN in Surgery Center - Full-time
About the Role: The Preop PACU RN position is crucial in ensuring the safety and comfort of patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves assessment and preparing readiness for surgical procedures and monitoring their recovery in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). The primary goal is to facilitate a smooth transition for patients from the pre- op, operating room to recovery, ensuring they receive the necessary support and medical attention needed. The RN will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to assess patient needs, administer medications, and educate patients and their families about post-operative care. Ultimately, this position plays a vital role in enhancing patient outcomes and satisfaction during a critical phase of their healthcare journey.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Mississippi.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing degree.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in preoperative or PACU nursing.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct preoperative assessments to evaluate patients' health status and readiness for surgery.
- Monitor patients in the PACU, observing vital signs and managing any complications that may arise post-anesthesia.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery expectations.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
