  • ATHLETIC TRAINER/DURABLE MEDICAL EQUIPMENT (DME) COORDINATOR (Full-Time)


    Job Description: The purpose of this position is to ensure that all aspects of processing and applying payments, zero pay vouchers and adjustments received by our office from patients and insurance companies are done accurately and in a timely manner.


    Job Responsibilities:

    • Apply prefabricated and custom orthotic devices ordered by physicians
    • Educate patients about donning, doffing, the use and maintenance of devices
    • Provide education to patients insurance plans and provisions, financial responsibility, and collection of patient portion at the time of service
    • Insure that all necessary documentation is obtained as it relates to payer requirements, standard operating procedures, and the practice’s compliance program
    • Perform patient scheduling, education, order processing, delivery, and courtesy call back
    • Actively promote and foster good relations interdepartmentally and with provider’s clinical and surgery center personnel, external case managers, payers and suppliers
    • Track, maintain, and order DME products for all clinical locations
    • Manage site profitability
    • Ensures that inventory counts are accurate and par levels are established and maintained
    • Provides weekly and monthly reports to supervisor
    • Monitors all products to ensure timeliness of pre-certification and placement of DME products
    • Coordinate with the pre-cert department to respond to written and telephone inquiries from insurance companies and patients
    • Respond to patient questions about insurance related reimbursement as needed

    Position Requirements:

    • BA/BS degree in Athletic Training, Exercise Sciences, or Kinesiology, and two (2) years related medical experience preferred
    • Licensed or Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Orthotic Fitter, or Orthopedic Technician preferred
    • Experience with the application of DME preferred
    • Basic computer skills
    • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
    • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
    • Must be able to complete tasks with a high-degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
    • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
    • Must have the ability to work independently
    • Travel may be needed to satellite locations for delivery/retrieval of DME items

    Schedule: This is a full-time position. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and based upon clinic needs.

    Job Description: The Medical Assistant will be working closely with the physician to ensure that his clinic runs smoothly.     Job Description: The purpose of this position is to ensure that all aspects of processing and applying payments, zero pay vouchers and adjustments received by our office from patients and insurance companies are done accurately and in a timely manner.


    Job Functions:

    • Receiving, sorting, batching and line item posting into the PMS
    • Accurately applies collection debt payments on appropriate accounts
    • Posting of all clinical charges
    • Balances daily posting batches to ensure accuracy and reconciliation of daily deposit
    • Maintains accurate documents and reports following established procedures and policies

    Qualifications:

    • High school diploma required and at least 2 years of health care billing experience is preferred
    • Exceptional data entry and typing skills and knowledge of Excel and Word
    • Working knowledge of the CPT, HCPCS and ICD-9 coding from a reimbursement perspective
    • Familiar with all types of insurance, explanation of benefits and payment posting
    • Must have good math skills

    Work Schedule: 25 hours or less a week

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Document patient encounters in detail
    • Maintain and order DME supply inventory
    • Deliver compassionate care to patients and manage protected health information
    • Other duties include but are not limited to the following: policy compliance, record keeping, scheduling, and validating patient eligibility for equipment
    • Retrieval of patients from clinical area to apply DME

    Position Requirements:

    • Basic computer skills
    • Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology
    • Prior orthopaedic or rehab experience preferred
    • Exceptional customer service, interpersonal skills, and communication skills
    • Must be able to complete tasks with a high-degree of efficiency and accuracy while working in a fast-paced environment with frequent disruptions
    • Must demonstrate the ability to analyze data and resolve complex problems
    • Must have the ability to work independently while managing time and workload appropriately
